Sometimes, webinar facilitation feels like you’re in NIRVANA - engaging, fun, flawless; or in the ABYSS - sucking, awful, as if you are dying.
Many trainers and learning professionals have been rushing to use ZOOM for the rapid transfer of their classroom workshops online. But in the hustle and bustle, we focused too much on the urgency of getting things done instead of conducting it in a right way. We are then left with ZOOM sessions with Zombie learners. Observe that we have the content and all the materials available but the learning doesn't take place.
Have you ever felt that your webinars and virtual training are a big guess work? You are hoping that your learners would not multi-task, snooze off, or remain so quiet. Does it ever come to a point that you feel like you’re the only one in the webinar?
Can you really make a miracle happen? Think of this situation when every so often, you have to scavenge, scrounge, steal, borrow, and cannibalize whatever software you can find just to produce a quick and immediate learning lesson. There is no budget or you probably need months before you can even make a purchase. But after you completed the lesson, you realize you just made a miracle.
Yes, many agree that lecturing in webinars can quickly become boring and kills learning. But what could be a better alternative? More teasers and warm-ups? Additional break-out sessions? How about more exercises and activities?
One of the key gaps in virtual and webinar training is how to replicate the hands-on and tactile training in handling equipment, raw materials, shop floor physical facilities, processes and procedures, and face-to-face co-mingling. Most webinars and virtual sessions are used for presentations and for conveying knowledge. However, these are inadequate in dealing with helping learners and trainers gain the necessary hands-on experiences. In this webinar, we will share case studies and pilot projects on "hands-on learning in remote learning."
